After more than two months of winter vacation, all government and recognized private schools in Kashmir and winter zones of Jammu division are reopening today.
The schools have been closed since December 1, 2022, and will resume routine activities for school children from March 1, 2023. Teaching staff for high and higher secondary schools have already reported to their respective schools from February 20 to prepare for ensuing examinations.
The School Education Department has lined up the annual 2022 (Term II) examination for junior classes, while the Term II exam for class 8th students will commence on March 10.

The new timing for schools in Srinagar is from 9 am to 2 pm, to avoid traffic gridlock in the city center. With ongoing construction work around the city, the traffic police department faces the major challenge of regulating traffic flow for vehicles carrying school-going children to ensure a smooth passage for them.
