J&K Board conducts first-ever March exams under NEP 2020 for class 11th students in Soft Zone Areas of Kashmir
The Jammu and Kashmir Board of School Education (BOSE) has announced that the annual examination for class 11th students in soft zone areas of Kashmir has commenced from March 6, 2023. Over 67,000 students have registered for the exam, which is were held at 622 examination centres.

The examination of class 10th and 12th students in soft zone areas will commence from March 9 and March 8, respectively.
According to the figures released by J&K BOSE, a total of 2,13,104 students, including 1,97,890 from soft zone areas and 15,214 students from hard zone areas, will appear for the class 10th to 12th annual regular (2023) examination. The J&K Board has set up 2069 examination centres across the state.
It is noteworthy that this is the first J&K Board examination being conducted in March after the adoption of the National Academic Calendar and the implementation of the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020 by the J&K government. The J&K Board has already notified the soft and hard zone areas of Kashmir and Jammu divisions. The examination of students in hard zone areas is scheduled to commence from April 2023.

The J&K BOSE has set up 1886 examination centres in soft zone areas and 183 centres in hard zone areas. The board has notified that the date-sheet for the students of hard zone areas will be notified separately. The BOSE has also listed the schools that fall in hard zones and has set up seven zones of Kargil district and the entire Ladakh area as hard zones.
